Each page exports as a PNG with an opaque white background. This holds even when the PDF page has no background fill of its own, so transparent areas in a PDF do not carry over into the PNG.

PDF.js draws each page onto an HTML5 canvas element in your browser. The canvas is then encoded as a PNG blob and downloaded. The rendered pixels exist only in your device memory and are cleared immediately after export.
PNG is lossless. It preserves sharp edges on text, diagrams, and charts without compression artifacts. Choose JPG if you need smaller files for email or web sharing.
